About the Conference

The IV International Scientific International and technical Conference “Light in Museum” will be held at the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg on April 22-24, 2024.

The conference "Light in Museum" was founded by the State Hermitage Museum and the Scientific and Technical Council of the Lighting Industry of the Russian Federation in 2018. Dedicated to topical issues of light and lighting in museums, restoration workshops and storage facilities, the Conference is an open platform for constructive dialog between the lighting and museum professional communities. About the last conference, that took place April 22-24, you can read on the "Light in Museum 2024" web-page. In 2024, 211 representatives of museums, lighting equipment manufacturers, scientific and research organizations, educational institutions, lighting design studios and architectural bureaus took part in the conference in person. In total, 350 people from 9 countries registered to participate in the conference, including online participation. Read more on the organizers' website.

Participation

As in previous years, participation in the conference will be free with mandatory registration on the conference website. Participation is available both in person and online. The number of in-person places is limited.

Starting from June 1, 2025, we will begin accepting abstracts for the conference "Light in the Museum". Abstracts are accepted by email to the organizing committee svm@cie-russia.ru until October 15, 2025, after which they will be reviewed by the conference program committee.

Cultural Program

St. Petersburg is the largest center of world and Russian culture, famous for its magnificent architectural ensembles, palaces and museums. As in previous years, the conference will be held at the State Hermitage Museum, one of the largest art museums in the world. The excursion program for participants will appear on the website later.
